Tourplus is the global travel platform that allows anyone from any field (teacher, student…) to become freelance tour guide. Tourplus connects travellers with local people directly. We focus on bringing local experiences to foreign travelers.

1. Description:

WORK ANYTIME YOU WANT: You just need to provide for us your free time, so foreign travelers will book your tour based on your free time.

CHOOSE YOUR DESIRE GUEST: You have control over which guest you are comfortable to host, when guest made a request to you, you have option to accept or decline the offer. This make safety to host as host can choose to host their desire guest.

DESIGN YOUR TOUR IN SPECIAL WAY: You have the ability to design content of tour by yourself (where to go, time, duration, short tour or long tour…).

ANY WHERE YOU WANT: Every communication will be done by online. Tourplus is a global website so you could work anywhere you want. Every payment will be made through account on Paypal or Bank transfer.ANY SALARY YOU WANT: You set the price of tour by yourself. here is some guideline of the market price:

  • Compact Car (Myvi) 3-4 guests recommended – RM300-400 per day
  • Sedan Car (Toyota Camry) 3-4 guests recommended – RM400-500 per day
  • Van or Mini Bus 3-11 guests recommended – RM600-800 per day
  • MPV (Toyota Estima) 3-6 guests recommended – RM800-900 per day
  • Luxury Car (BMW, Merc) 3 guests recommended – RM900-1100 per day

We are looking for anyone in MALAYSIA who wants to use free time to meet new foreigners, guide them around your city, share local culture and actually get paid.We believe travel experience should be shared. It will be most fulfilled when you do it with a partner, may that be a travel companion, someone you meet on the go, or your tour guide.

11 April 2016, Penang – Tourplus was invited by Khazanah Cornerstone to pitch to investors in a closed door event last week, on the 7th of April. We duly made preparations, and headed down to Penang the day before, stopping by in Ipoh town for some delicious chicken rice for lunch. The air was hazy, the heat made the air a strong balm.
In the evening, we managed to catch up with a score of guides from Penang at Starbucks in E-gate. Over some refreshing iced “vitamin water” we had fruitful two-way discussions and talked freely about things pertaining to our platform and the industry, and practical matters of interest to the front-liners of our tourism industry.

Our discussions went on for about two hours before we finally said our goodbyes and adjourned to call it a day. For the team at Tourplus though, it was onwards to more meetings, more strategizing, and then finally rehearsals for the big day tomorrow.

The next day was filled with even more rehearsals before finally heading to Wisma Yeap Chor Ee in the afternoon.

After an hour or two to let investors mingle freely with entrepreneurs, it was time for all of us to pitch. Only five minutes were allotted to each speaker, and we had to make a strong pitch before time was up. This is our CEO Rickson in action.

After the pitching session there followed another round of closer conversations with interested parties, and then we adjourned at the end of the event. We took the chance to catch up with friends and have dinner, then it was time for the long drive back to KL. We returned in the AM exhausted and in good spirits. 🙂

Easter Greetings from Tourplus!

Today marks a very special day for many families and communities all across Malaysia, and I would like to take this opportunity to write about something close to my heart. Celebrations like Easter Sunday remind me of how this land now called Malaysia has always been an entrepot and a place where pioneers from Nusantara and farther afield – like Persia, Arabia, India and China – braved dangerous journeys by sea to come here to trade, to seek fortunes, and to settle down, forming families and communities, because they had faith that here they would prosper. In the process, and over centuries, settlers from far away lands put down roots on this earth, formed close bonds with neighbors, and today, we all share a common destiny as Malaysians. We Malaysians are peoples of different cultures and heritages, but born next to each other, working side to side, celebrating together, and suffering and mourning together. We enjoy each other’s foods and marvellous festivities in a way that is the envy of people from more distant lands. To these others, who will travel hundreds of kilometres or more by air, over many hours, just to experience for a moment, how we live here every day of our lives; Malaysia being the melting pot of South-East Asia is something they do not forget and will remember for the rest of their lives, no matter where else they will have the fortune to go.

Our diversity is a source of strength and pride. It gives our nation wonderful colour, and it is what makes us unique and different from the rest of the world. There is no other land out there as rich as us in this respect. This weekend as we celebrate and give thanks, or relax after a long working week, let us together resolve to build upon the foundations of this society for a better future for the coming generations.

Today, I would also like to try a change of tack. For the past two weeks, my emails to you have been about what Tourplus can do for you, and about asking you to list with us. Today, I would instead like to tell you about who we are, and what plans we have for the future.

In the second week of March, our CEO Rickson Goh left China and returned to Malaysia with a strategic partnership with the UM China and Guo Ao groups. Much of what was discussed during these meetings remains confidential, but this is some information from presentation slides I am authorised to share with you.

First of all, Why Pick Travel?

In the past, people who wanted a good travel experience would make bookings with reliable and trustworthy tour operators. Tourists, being in strange lands and countries, are vulnerable to all sorts of scams and even violent crime. There arose a necessity to travel with the expertise of trusted local guides and credible tour operators, and so the profession and the business was born.

Today however, with so much information on the internet, tourists no longer have to rely on tour operators for a good experience. They can do their homework and plan their itinerary on their own. Certainly, for those with the money, sharing their tour experience with several bus fulls of other people and being rushed from place to place does not appeal.

Target Customers

Our target market is families, couples, and groups of close friends who want a Private and Exclusive Guided Tour experience. There is still a lot of room and opportunity in reaching this target market.

No charging by the hour shenanigans here. The goal is complete half day or whole day packages, and complete experiences.

Where are we now?

Our platform is open and ready for business. The mobile website is complete and the payment gateway has been fully implemented. We have people coming in to list with us across ASEAN. After an initial flood of applicants, we realised that we needed stricter vetting processes to remove unqualified and unlicensed operators operating in contravention of their own country’s laws. This is proof that our concept is in demand; but we just want it to be for the right people.

For Future

All of this ties in with the emails I have been sending to you for the past two weeks. We are on a recruitment drive, because one of the first Destinations we want to build up on our platform is the Pearl of the Orient. To build Penang as a destination on our site and make it attractive to our target tourists, we need to list a breadth and depth of tour experiences provided by Professionals Guides such as yourself.

Strategic Partnership with the UM China Group

Hangzhou, 6th March 2016 – A strategic partnership meeting was successfully held today at the UM China Group headquarters in Hangzhou, China.

UM China Group and Tourplus Technology Sdn. Bhd. are both pioneers in their industries. UM China promotes cross-cultural exchange internationally and within China with the use of Travel Postcards. These Postcards are used as a means of building people-to-people relations between China and Malaysia, as well as between China and other countries in ASEAN. Tourplus on the other hand is a technological enterprise with aspirations to capitalise on the emerging global “sharing economy”. To do so, they will build a platform and an ecosystem where it will be possible for people to share private, exclusive and socially intimate authentic cultural experience with travelers.

The strategic partnership between UM China Group and Tourplus Technology Sdn Bhd will boost the growth of the travel industry in Malaysia and the ASEAN region.

A strategic blueprint for the future was drafted in today’s meeting whereby UM China and Tourplus will expand their online travel platform to 7 countries and 14 cities in the South East Asian region, facilitating private and exclusive tour experiences by allowing tourists to hire a local guide in only three easy steps: Search by City, Selecting a Local Guide, and finally Reviewing and Hiring. With the Tourplus online platform, tourists will have more options and ease in choosing their style and preference of travel.

The partnership between UM China and Tourplus is focused on three main areas: 1. Expanding their presence across South East Asia, 2. Enhancing the User-Interface/User-Experience of both companies’s websites, 3. Technological cross-support.
